Growing up in Batticaloa, one of Sri Lanka's poorest districts, we saw the stark inequalities in access to resources and social opportunities among students. This deeply troubled us as children, but the arrival of the Internet sparked our belief in technology's power to drive social change.

Our journey to founding SPM Industries was shaped by Batticaloa's challenges, including a 30-year civil war, the 2004 tsunami, the 2019 Easter bombings, and economic downturns. These events highlighted the need for a balanced GDP landscape beyond agriculture. We recognized that a strong startup ecosystem could uplift the community.

SPM Industries was born in 2019 with a mission to create groups of startups and incubate micro-industries like SPM Technologies, SPM Academy, SPM Renewables, and SPM Shops. We started as a humble startup, and today, we're empowering the rise of many more. SPM Industries is a movement transforming Batticaloa, empowering MSMEs, and inviting entrepreneurs to join us in creating a thriving future.
